Vanessa Linn McMorris

Vanessa Linn McMorris, age 55, passed away unexpectedly at her home Saturday, December 20, 2025. She was born in Racine, WI, October 29, 1970, the 11th of 11 children. of Walter Briggs and Nancy McMorris

Vanessa attended Horlick High School. She was very energetic and loved to sing. She will be remembered for her ability to make you laugh, to have a good time, for being the life of the party and always having the last word. She enjoyed shopping and eating at her favorite restaurant TexasRoadhouse. Above all she treasured time spent with her family especially her son and grandkids and her dog Nina who was like her 2nd child. She will be dearly missed. Vanessa became a Certified Nursing Assistant in 1994. And since then the love she had for taking care of others never went unnoticed. She was employed at Community Pathways AFH up until her timely passing.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her son, Dimontray Barker; grandchildren, Ariana Sanchez, Amiyah-Marie Sanchez, Amariyana Sanchez, Bailey Barker, and Dimoni Barker; her siblings, Roosevelt McMorris, Ricky (Joann) McMorris, Dornice (James) Carodine, Darrell McMorris, Charles (Yolanda) McMorris, Ronnie McMorris, Melody McMorris, Tasha Briggs, Tania Briggs, Janice Nunn, Kim and Patrick Washington, Donley Carey, Loving companion of 11yrs Melvin Bridges Sr., Best friend Tracey Massie Williams, and Special friend Douglas Petty, Godchildren Shavette and Shavell Campbell; and a numerous amount of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Briggs and Nancy Sue McMorris; brothers, Tony McMorris and Marvin Nunn; sisters, Cheryl McMorris, Brenda McMorris, Debra Ann; Sister-in-Laws; Teresa McMorris and Pamela McMorris, Nephews, Marcus Caldwell Jr. and Dalreese Ghani

A Homegoing Celebration will be held at the Maresh-Meredith & Acklam Funeral Home, 803 Main St, Friday, January 16, 2026, 11 am. Relatives and friends may meet prior to the service 10-11 am.
