Velreese Lashae Wilson, age 36, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 28, 2025, at her home. She was born in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Carvel Wilson and Michelle (Kenny Day SR) Day.

Velreese graduated from William Horlick High School, Class of 2007, and later attended Bryant & Stratton College. She dedicated over five years of service to The Pillars at Crystal Bay Assisted Living, where she most recently worked as the Wellness Coordinator. She will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the strength she carried even through her hardest days, and the way she could brighten a room just by being in it. She will be remembered for her kindness—how she made people feel seen, valued, and understood.

She will be remembered for her laughter, her compassion, and the way she showed up for others without being asked. Most of all, she will be remembered for the impact she left on the hearts of those who loved her.

Above all, Velreese cherished time with her family and leaves behind a legacy of love that will be deeply missed.

Those who will forever treasure her memory include her mother, Michelle (Kenny SR) Day; her sons, Justin Reid Jr., Juvell Reid, and Juvari Reid; her siblings, Carvel (Allisia) Wilson Jr., Jasmine (Nicholas) Murray, Kenny Marqoun Day, Kurtis Lee Day, Keon Lee Day, and Kenny Lee Day Jr.; and her grandmother, Wanda Wilson. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended relatives, dear friends, and her Crystal Bay family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Carvel Wilson, and her grandparents, Albert and Johnmae Williams and Carter Mallory.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Maresh-Meredith & Acklam Funeral Home, 803 Main Street, with Pastor Johnny Ford officiating. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 10:00–11:00 a.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the family for the benefit of her sons have been suggested.
