Life Story / Obituary
Vincent Lamonte Thomas passed away unexpectedly at Ascension Hospital on April 2nd, 2026 due to a tragic accident.
Vincent Lamonte Thomas (Big Nuckie) was born on August 10, 1974, in Chicago, Illinois, at Bernard Hospital, to Lola Marie Thomas and Chester Byrd. In 1982, Lola relocated her family to Kenosha, Wisconsin, and later to Racine, Wisconsin, in 1987. Lamonte attended Park High School and earned his HSED from Gateway Technical College in 1994.
Lamonte united in marriage with his beloved wife, Cindy, in 2006. Together they shared many years of love, devotion, and commitment to one another and their family.
Lamonte was a hardworking and dedicated man. He began working at the Bray’s Center in 2009, where he remained for many years. In 2012, he continued his career with Strum Industries in North Dakota.
Above all else, Lamonte deeply loved and cherished his family, especially his wife children and grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose love, guidance, and presence meant everything to those who knew him.
Vincent Lamonte Thomas(Big Nuckie) was preceded in death by his mother, Lola Marie Thomas; his father, Chester Byrd; his grandfather Robert Thomas; his grandma Lola B. Thomas ;his Aunt Ramona Thomas; his grandsons; and his cousin, who was more like a brother, Herman Thomas.
He leaves to cherish his memory to his six children: Montray Morris, Montiona Yancey, Ce’hara Morris, Nucquan Thomas, Nutraveon Thomas, Nucquisha Thomas; 15 beloved grandchildren; and his siblings Robert Thomas, Aaronette Thomas, and Robin (Josh) Thomas-Kingsbury. A host of brothers and sisters that were not by blood but by love, loyalty, and struggle forged by humble beginnings.
Lamonte has three nephews and one niece; JustinUrban, Kalevi Gandy, kahlise kingsbury ,Kaleb kingsbury. Also one great nephew Kaizin Wilson.
In conclusion, the remembrance of him and his legacy and impact in the lives of family and many others will live on within as he sleeps peacefully watching over all that he loved and who loved him.
Visitation will be held at Maresh-Meredith and Acklam Funeral Home, 803 Main Street, Thursday, May 21, 2026 10-11 am. Funeral Service will be held at 11 am followed by interment at Graceland Cemetery.
