Life Story / Obituary
With his family by his side, William F. Toutant, age 85, passed away at his home, Monday, April 7, 2025. He was born in Racine, February 11, 1940, son of the late Francis and Helen (Nee: Olson) Toutant.
Bill was a graduate of Washington Park High School, “Class of 1958”. He proudly served his country in the US Marines. On February 16, 1963, he was united in marriage to MaryAnn Borel at Holy Name Catholic Church. They had many mutual interests and loved spending time with one another for 62 wonderful years. Bill was employed as an electrician in Racine for 40 years, first with Surendonk Electric and then later retiring from Modine Mfg. in 2000, where he was given the nickname “Buck” by his coworkers. Bill was a member of Hoy Audubon birding club and Sons of Norway. Bill was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, birding and being one with nature. His legacy will live on through his children and grandchildren who he (Papa) taught to love and respect nature, just as he did. Bill also enjoyed bowling with his Dad, in later years, golfing, cross-country skiing, traveling and spending winters in Florida with Maryann and their friends. He also looked forward to vacationing at “the Green Lake House” on Big Green Lake with his family each summer. When he wasn’t in the great outdoors, Buck enjoyed reading a good book or working a crossword puzzle while snacking on his favorite chocolates. And, let’s not forget, “Did they cut the cake yet?” He sure loved his white cake!
Bill was loved dearly and will be sadly missed by his wife MaryAnn; his children, Scott (Wendy) Toutant, Danny (Juli) Toutant, Lisa (Chris) Yeagle; grandchildren, Buxton Toutant (fiancée, Molly Soda), Juneau Toutant, Daelyn Toutant, Erica (Brandon) Verwey, twins Luke and Mitch Toutant; great granddaughters, Mia and Olivia Verwey; brother, Terry (Lorrie) Toutant, sister-in-law, Bobbi Borel; nieces, nephews other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother- in- law, Judy and Dave Nielsen, brother-in-law, Richard Borel and father and mother-in-law, Charles and Carmella Borel.
Funeral services celebrating Bill’s life will be held at the funeral home, 11:30 am Thursday, April 17, 2025. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for Visitation, Thursday at 10:00 am until time of service at the funeral home. Memorials to the Hoy Audubon Society or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital have been suggested.
A special thank you to the staff at Aurora Medical Center and Aurora at Home for their loving and compassionate care.
