Life Story / Obituary
William “Bill” F. Metzger, age 85, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2018. He was born in Racine, February 22, 1933, son of the late Fred and Mary (Nee: Fiorita) Metzger.
During the Korean conflict he proudly served in the United States Army. On May 18, 1963 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Bill was united in marriage to Gerarda “Geri” M. Vassallo who preceded him in death, August 27, 2011. He was employed by Western Publishing for forty-three years, retiring February 1, 1995.
He was an avid Packer fan who was also passionate about photography.
He will be dearly missed by his sons and daughters-in-law, Fred (Cecilia) Metzger, Charles Metzger (Laura Wegner); his grandchildren, Ryan (Tory) Gavin, Megan Gavin (Ryan Cain), Michael (Amy) Gavin, Josh Wegner; his great-granddaughter, Abigail Gavin; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Metzger, John Vassallo, Anna (Aurelio) Fardella, Lillian (Ted) Wichrowski, Claudia (Gerardo) Crosta, Maureen Vassallo; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Metzger.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 21, 2018, 5:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the funeral home from 4:00 P.M. until time of service at 5:30 P.M. Entombment with Full Military Honors will be held Friday, 10:00 A.M. at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Memorials to the American Diabetes Association have been suggested.
