William Thomas Simonson, “Tom”, age 89, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at his residence. He was born in Racine, WI, October 15, 1935, son of the late William Arthur and Gladys (Nee: Werve) Simonson.
Tom graduated from St. Catherine’s High School Class of 1954 and went on to earn his BBA from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954-1956 stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA. In 1958, Tom was united in marriage to Patricia Presta at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was most proud of their three children, Corey, Stewart, and Claudia.
Tom spent his career in sales and marketing of industrial equipment. He was a member of the West Racine Kiwanis Club and the Sons of Norway. He was a lifelong bicyclist and was a competitor in his younger days. In retirement, he took up photography and found much fulfillment taking pictures around Wisconsin and other locales. He was soft-hearted to animals and enjoyed the companionship of dogs throughout his life. He will be sincerely missed.
Surviving are his children, Corey Simonson, Stewart Simonson, and Claudia Simonson; grandchildren, Monica (Bill) Connelly, Hanna Simonson, and Madelyn Simonson; great grandchildren, River and Liam; brother-in-law Carl Meyers; cousins Byron (Judy) Verheyen, Gail Kruppstadt, and Lynn Kosterman; other cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear and dependable friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Meyers.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home, Monday May 19, 2025, at 2 pm. Relatives and friends may meet prior to the service from 1 pm until 2 pm. Private interment with full military honors will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
